Profile
Melanie joined rospatt as a lawyer in 2021 and has since been handling and advising on a wide variety of intellectual property matters. She participates in the consulting of large and mid-sized companies from Germany and abroad, and is primarily involved in litigation of infringement proceedings before the civil courts.
One focus of her practice is patent litigation. In this area, she advises clients mainly, but not exclusively, in the field of manufacturing engineering and machinery, telecommunications, electronics, computer hardware and software, as well as chemistry. Melanie provides support in FRAND-related proceedings. Her interest in patent cases and foreign legal jurisdictions led to her decision to pursue a doctoral degree in the field of patent law. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the handling of patents on pharmaceuticals in a cross-jurisdictional comparison, with a link to the administrative side, especially regulatory issues.
Melanie is active in trademark law, with a focus on combating product piracy, among other things. She supports all companies, from luxury labels to mid-sized enterprises, in enforcing their trademark rights. She also represents clients, primarily from the automotive and textile industries in enforcing design rights and against unfair competition.
In addition, she has gained experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, in particular license agreements.
Melanie was called to the bar as lawyer (Germany) in 2021.
